Company Requirements

Sun Air AircraftThe following is a breakdown of the requirements needed to be considered for employment with Sun Air Flight Operations.

Currently the Government has a policy to localize the work force, which means that any position that becomes available within Sun Air will first be advertised locally. If it is unable to be filled locally, then we are required to look abroad for suitably qualified pilots.

Generally, any First Officer positions will be filled by Local pilots if available. Regularly though we do require Captains on Twin Otters on a contract basis. This is due to the local international airline recruiting local Captains from within the domestic airlines at short notice and thus leaving us short.

Minimum Requirements for Expatriate Pilots:

  • Total time: 3000 hours (mostly Pilot-in-Command)
  • Multi-Engine experience: 200-300 hours
  • Command Instrument Rating
  • Night experience
  • Preferably rated on DHC-6, or a reasonable amount of turbine experience on some other PT6-powered aircraft
  • An Instructors Rating would be an advantage
  • Experience in short strip operations
